Al pie del cerro Santa Ana y a la orilla del río está el pequeño bastión que es conocido como La Planchada, y en el cual se inicia la calle Numa Pompilio Llona. DAY 3: Monday 21 march - Checking the boats, Lunch at Nelson's house, history of the Guayaquil-Vinces marathon race.
CALDO DE BOLAS is a typical Ecuadorian soup of green plantain balls or dumplings stuffed with meat and served in a delicious broth with corn and yuca.

El calor reinante llevó al grupo a reunirse en el dormitorio de Xavier Eduardo Yela a observar el fondo de fotografías antiguas sobre las carreras de lanchas a motor fuera de borda en el Ecuador y la historía de la regata Guayaquil - Vinces. Así, se reunieron: José Yela, Pancho Lainez, Dr. Silvio Mosquera, Enrique Echanique, Natalie de Echanique, Jeff Yungen, Josh Pearson, Nelson Sotomayor, Jorge Tenorio, Julio Sojos y Xavier Oswaldo Yela, fue una jornada de gratos recuerdos en un clima de camaradería de fuerabordistas.
El fondo está compuesto por más de 3.000 copias digitales de fotografías.

EN CASA DE LA FAMILIA ECHANIQUE...
CALDO DE PATAS: a broth-based soup with cow's hoof. PATACONES (hick fried green plantains) are popular side dishes with coastal meals. Patacones are twice-fried plantain patties. Plantains are sliced in 4-cm (1.5-in) long pieces and fried in oil. The segments are then removed and individually smashed down either with a bottle's bottom side or with a tostonera to about half their original height. Finally, the pieces are fried again and then seasoned to taste, often with salt. Patacones are often dipped for about a minute or less in water seasoned with garlic salt.

En este día estaba previsto visitar las playas de Salinas, pero nuestros visitantes decidieron quedarse realizando una caminata por la hermosa Guayaquil y visitar el mercado artesanal para rezalizar compras.

DAY 8: Saturday 26 march - Visit area of Tortugas Galápagos and Parque Histórico Guayaquil
Josh y Jeff visitaron a Polito (80-90 años aprox.), Polita (110 años aprox), Chafo (80 años aprox.) y Dartañan (30-40 años) las mascotas y símbolo de la ESPOL. Polito es la tortuga más antigua en posesión de la ESPOL y es el símbolo de esta Institución, representando lentitud pero seguridad al momento de conseguir los objetivos.

Parque Histórico Guayaquil...
is a beutiful place to visit and learn about our traditions. It is divided in three main parts: The Hacienda, Zoo and the Historical Harbour. In each section it is possible to have different tours to learn about Ecuador flora and fauna. The zoo offers a different types of animals that are found in our coastal forests. The historical harbour offers original houses that where used to be situated at the Malecon of Guayaquil. This houses were rescued by experts and rebult just in front of our Daule river. In this section you are transported to the past. Old Guayaquil is represantated by actors.

Pearson and Jeff visited a traditional house that is used by people who lives in the country side. Also, you can see how cacao is extracted from the fruit. At some moments of the day, you can enjoy also a little play where actors personified traditional people who lives in the countriside. Finally a lunch with family Yela (Xavier, Paula, Andrés y Xavier Jr.) in a seafood restaurant, Red Crab.

DAY 10: Monday 28 march - Farewell at Guayaquil airport.
Xavier Oswaldo Yela Villamar y su hijo Xavier Eduardo, despidieron en el aeropuerto José Joaquínn de Olmedo, de Guayaquil, a los pilotos de EE.UU. Jeff Yungen y Josh Pearson, luego de nueve días de visita a nuestro país. Acudieron también a la despedida Jorge Tenorio y su esposa Annabel Valenzuela de Tenorio quienes entregaron presentes para las esposas de los estadounidenses.
